The Community Development Agency (CDA) serves the housing and business development needs of 11 cities – Carver, Chanhassen, Chaska, Cologne, Hamburg, Mayer, New Germany, Norwood Young America, Victoria, Waconia, Watertown — and nine townships in Carver County, Minnesota.
Located 20 miles southwest of Minneapolis, Carver County is one of the fastest growing counties in the Twin Cities metro area – in population, housing and business expansions.
Population is expected to approach 200,000 by 2030, three times the number of residents since 1990.
The County has one of the strongest housing markets in the metro area, outperforming the region even during the recent housing slowdown.
New business developments are underway throughout Carver County — including a major Bio-Science Corporate Campus in Chaska, an open-air lifestyle center in Chanhassen, two industrial parks in Norwood Young America, a new industrial park in Watertown, the InterLaken mixed-use development and the Pine Business Park in Waconia.
Growth has been spurred by the long-awaited Highway 212 extension and other major highway improvements. It’s supported by a growing recognition of Carver County’s outstanding quality of life.
